Pieris japonica 'Flaming Silver'

      Description

This evergreen shrub boasts a compact, mounded habit, perfect for adding structure to gardens or landscapes. It thrives in hardiness zones 6 to 8 and prefers cool to moderate temperatures. Its striking variegated foliage features green leaves edged with bright silver that take on a brilliant red flush in spring with new growth, fading to green and silver after maturation. Though its fall color is minimal, the plant produces clusters of small, creamy-white, urn-shaped flowers in early spring, adding soft elegance to the garden. This shrub requires well-drained, acidic soil and performs well in partial to full shade. It reaches a mature height of 4 to 5 feet and a similar spread, making it a fantastic border plant or specimen shrub. While it is moderately resistant to deer, its dense foliage and vibrant colors enhance any landscape design. There is no edible fruit or commercial production associated with this plant.
